Now, Nikki Finke reports that directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in talks to helm the project. Lord and Miller have made quite a splash in recent years with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 2009, 21 Jump Street in 2012 (which will see a sequel released later this year) and their most recent hit, The LEGO Movie.
All of Lord and Miller’s previously-released films have gone on to gross over $200 million at the global box office.
Set to begin production next year in New York City, the storyline is rumored to focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters with cameos from the original stars written into the script.
