SyFy is poised to debut a new series in January called Helix. Cameron Porsandeh created the series, but on writing and executive producing duties you’ll find Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore.
The network describes Helix as “an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation…or total annihilation.”
Obviously, the Arctic setting and body horrors you see give off a vibe akin to The Thing (Moore wrote a draft of the recent redo of that film), but it also has a Michael Crichton-esque tone among other things. Consider me very interested!
