The Conjuring – which has now grossed over $100 million at the box office – has paved the way for a sequel currently in development at New Line.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to return as Ed and Lorraine Warren. Time will tell if James Wan – busy doing Fast & Furious 7 – will return to direct, but the studio believes strongly it has a franchise on its hands with the Warrens serving as our protagonists taking us from terrifying case to terrifying case.
Certain events that happened in Amityville were teased The Conjuring, leading many to believe that’s where the sequel could go, but the fellas at Aint It Cool News have heard otherwise.
Per Quint at AICN:
The case file theyre looking at occurs in the late ’70s and centers on two sisters in Enfield, England, who were allegedly possessed. Warren said she personally saw them levitate and even saw one of the sister dematerialize in front of her only to be found 20 minutes later stuffed into an oversized fuse box, contorted in such an unnatural way that they couldn’t have replicated it if they tried. She also said that the demon spoke directly to her husband on many occasions. Warren cited this case as one of the most terrifying experiences of her career.
Interesting, a “Warrens go international” tale for the sequel? We’ll keep you posted!
