*Updated* Is Blumhouse Prepping The Purge 2?

Among the 31 projects chosen for the California Film Commission’s tax credit, it appears The Purge 2 made the list.  This is a sequel, of course, to this Friday’s release The Purge, starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey.  Projects are submitted are chosen by lottery.

The first film is set in the not-so-distant future where the American government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity – including murder – is legal.  The police can’t be called.  Hospitals suspend help.  It is one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment.  On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.

According to The Wrap, projects vying for the tax credit needed to submit on Monday.  380 applications were file.

If Blumhouse Production – the outfit behind The Purge – makes any further progress on the sequel, we’ll let you know.
