Paul Williams and Guillermo del Toro At Work on Pan’s Labyrinth Musical

Williams is writing the lyrics and Santaolalla (who did the score for films like Brokeback Mountain) is arranging the music.  According to Deadline, Del Toro has quietly been shepherding this endeavor along for many year.  The director worked on the book for the musical with Jeremy Ungar.

The 2006 film, was set against the backdrop of fascist Spain 1944.  Ivan Baquero played the young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer who escapes into an eerie, but captivating, fantasy world.

My thoughts?  Sure, why not…  The film is gorgeous and the design, from sets to creatures, is ripe for the stage.
