Call Girl Director to Helm Creature Feature

Swedish helmer Mikael Marcimain made waves at the Toronto International Film Festival this year with his feature debut Call Girl and now he’s going to take a decided turn with his sophomore effort.  Variety says he will direct Stallo, based on the novel by Stefan Spjut.

Shooting will not begin until 2014-2015, however.

Here’s the synopsis from the publisher Albert Bonniers (the translation is a bit off, but you get the idea):  The picture that nature photographer Gunnar Myrén took in the mid-eighties when he flew over the Sarek National Park left him no peace. What was it that moved among the birch trees in the vast valley?

He suspected that he revealed a secret that has been hidden for centuries – that in our Swedish wilderness hid beings that we do not know. Like his grandfather is Susso Myrén obsessed with finding an explanation for the mysterious image. When a child is abducted under mysterious circumstances suspect she is not an act of human hands, and against his will pulled her into a violent and terrifying search for the truth. Soon it will be up to her that she herself is a game. That she touched anything dangerous. And been marked for death.
