Hellraiser
What I didn’t realize was “soon” meant college. Quite literally, it was the first thing I rented when I had a free moment after getting settled in for school. I probably could have seen it earlier, certainly, but the opportunity just never came up.
And so, that’s where I was first introduced to the warped world of Clive Barker and his Cenobites. You know what? I didn’t think the movie was all that extreme. Definitely not as extreme as I was led to believe by my father. “Jesus wept”…okay, yeah, that gnarly. The rest of it was totally my thing. Ashley Laurence was smokin’ gorgeous, the designs of the Cenobites hooked me (get it?) and I just loved the world of it all. I convinced myself that if I ever met a Cenobite, I could totally bargain my way out of the ordeal.
I rented Hellbound: Hellraiser II immediately.
