Exclusive: Warm Bodies May Branch Out into Webseries

One of them is Analeigh Tipton, star of last year’s Crazy, Stupid, Love, who will play Nora Greene, the best friend of the main character, played by Teresa Palmer. While interviewing Analeigh for her new movie, Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress, Shock’s non-horror site ComingSoon.net asked her about playing the role. They learned that they’ve made quite a few departures from the character in the book for the movie, and that the book’s author may write her backstory for a possible webseries.

“It was really exciting when I realized how I’m going to play a character in a book—that’s thrilling—and then I met the writer Isaac and I later learned that the character in the book is half-black and she’s in her 30s and she’s missing a finger, so my character is a little different,” she told them. “I’m not missing a finger, but all the character traits are there. She’s kind of this laid-back, protective, outspoken character that’s not afraid to tell people how it is. So that is a different character than I’ve ever really played. My character in ‘Warm Bodies’ is sure of everything and she gets to hold a machine gun.”

Even though the movie rights were picked up by Summit Entertainment in a slew of post-“Twilight” book acquisitions and it involves a similar supernatural romance as that successful franchise, we understand it’s a very different type of movie. ComingSoon.net also asked the actress whether Isaac Marion had been showing any intention of writing more with the characters from Warm Bodies, especially if the first movie takes off when released next February, and learned they might do some auxiliary material for the movie in a related webseries.

“’Warm Bodies,’ for him was a unique book – it was his first novel out – and he’s got some pretty cool books that I think some producers are looking at,” she said, “but I know Rob Corddry was interested in taking his zombie character and Isaac wants to take my character and do her backstory, so I think they’re going to go into a few backstories and maybe even make a webseries, which would be really cool. I hear that’s in the works, so that would be awesome.”
