A tough bit of serious news to chew on today. ABC News reports actor Daniel von Bargen was rushed to the hospital recently after a failed suicide attempt. The actor had starred in Clive Barker’s Lord of Illusions and also appeared in The Silence of the Lambs, The X-Files and Thinner and also co-starred in O Brother, Where Art Thou?
He attempted to kill himself to avoid a hospital appointment in which he was to have two toes amputated due to diabetes. He told dispatchers: “I shot myself in the head, and, I need help.” You can hear his 911 call here.
To horror fans, Von Bargen was known as “Nix” in Barker’s Lord of Illusions. Very sad news and we hope he pulls through this.
