Dream House Director Distancing Himself from Film

Wanted his name off project

Jim Sheridan, a director best known for My Left Foot and In the Name of the Father (Oscar caliber stuff), apparently struggled to get his name removed from the September 30 release Dream House.

The film – starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts – was released by Universal and tanked at the box office. No press screenings were held and the director refrained from doing interviews.

The L.A. Times says that Sheridan, over the summer, worked with the DGA to pulled his credit and replace it with the anonymous “Alan Smithee.” Sheridan was granted re-shoots, however, Morgan Creek – the production entity behind Dream House – took over the film in the editing room.

Unfortunately for Sheridan, his bid to have his name removed didn’t work out. But now you at least know that the film that’s on the screen is not the vision Sheridan intended.
