Universal & SyFy Team Up for Theatrical Fare

Two films a year beginning in 2012

SyFy has spent a lot of time focusing on making original pictures for the small screen.

Today, however, the network announced that it is partnering up with Universal for a spate of the theatrical fare – from sci-fi to fantasy to horror – that will kick off beginning in 2012.

The deal is still fresh and a production executive is going to be hired soon to get the films rolling. The goal is to get two films out a year.

Does this mean we’ll just see more goofy SyFy movies, but on a budget? Sharktopus with more money thrown at it?
