Ron Howard Talks Dark Tower Adaptation

The film trilogy beginning in 2013

It’s been a day for Stephen King films.

On the heels of the Firestarter and Maximum Overdrive remake news, Deadline posted a few comments from Ron Howard about his forthcoming endeavor: the long-anticipated adaptation of The Dark Tower series.

“It is going well, and it has been incredibly stimulating to work on,” Howard told the site. “It’s dense, a great author’s life work is not to be taken lightly. It has been utterly fascinating to explore it, and we are having great creative conversations. I’ve begun tossing and turning at 3 in the morning over it, so that’s a good sign.”

Basically, the plan – beginning in 2013 – is to kick off a film trilogy. A companion television series will occur between the movies. Wild, right? Ambitious, but a proper way to tackle all of that material.
