Starring Anthony Hopkins
The exorcism sub-genre is flourishing once more. While I’m always hopeful I’ll see something on par with The Exorcist, I’m disappointed by the mediocrity that I’m seeing generated. Filmmakers are relying all too often on CG-created scares rather than truly exploring what makes this sub-genre terrifying in the first place.
That said, The Rite, Warner Bros.’ upcoming thriller, has me curious, but I don’t want to be fooled again.
The film opens January 29, and today, Empire has premiered an international trailer which you can watch right here. This preview utilizes the score for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, also starring…Anthony Hopkins. It also gives you a glimpse of Rutger Hauer.
