More Details on American Psycho Musical

How’s the story progressing?

Almost at the start of the year, news broke that an American Psycho: The Musical was in the works.

Duncan Sheik was locked to write the music and he’s been tinkering on the project ever since. Today, to keep the momentum and buzz going, Sheik gave the NY Post an idea of some of the scenes we can expect to see. Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa added that the murders will occur in plain view of the audience. Here’s a taste of what’s to come…

– Bateman lures business associate Paul Owen [sic] back to his Manhattan apartment. Bateman puts on a raincoat so his designer suit doesn’t get bloody and hacks up Owen with an ax.

– He bumps into “Tom Cruise” in the elevator of the Upper West Side building where they both live. Bateman refers to Cruise’s film “Cocktail” as “Bartender.” Cruise corrects him and points out that his nose is bleeding.

– Bateman and his yuppie friends compare business cards at a swanky Upper East Side restaurant. Noting his peers’ classier cards, Bateman becomes so jealous he finds it hard to breathe.

Scripting is moving slow. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa only has a first act complete. A full draft of the script is due early next year.
