Lots of rewriting being had
Probably one of the most anticipated and ambitious horror films cutting through the studio system right now is Guillermo del Toro’s At the Mountains of Madness.
While we await some solid casting details on the H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, Del Toro recently told the Playlist that he’s, “rewriting and rewriting…I keep rewriting, not for budgetary reasons, but for creative reasons. For me, the beauty of the book is really it’s all about perspective. It’s about putting mankind in the right perspective in the cosmic scope. Lovecraft is very hard to adapt. Heâs the master of ambiguity, and film is all about specificity.”
At the time of this writing, it looks like Del Toro might start rolling cameras in June 2011. Don’t forget, James Cameron is acting as producer on this mammoth project.
