Devil is Confident, Drops Shyamalan Header

Slight title change for Dowdle Bros. film

Update: Studio reps tell us this is inaccurate and that the title was never The Night Chronicles: Devil. It was simply “Devil” and The Night Chronicles was the production company.

Not surprised at all. Considering the scathing reviews following M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, Universal has opted to drop the man’s name from the upcoming film Devil.

The Dowdle Bros. supernatural thriller fell under, and originally carried, the banner “The Night Chronicles.” This was going to be a series of genre films produced by Shyamalan. But Airbender appears to taken the value out of the man’s name a tad.

So Universal is going out with the film and calling it, as I said above, simply Devil. It was originally scheduled for a February 11, 2011 release. Shyamalan, however, told us we can expect the film in theaters on September 17. The studio has yet to confirm that.
