Plot Details for The Howling Reborn

Terrific, but will it really get made?

Last November, we spilled the beans on The Howling Reborn, a film in development at Moonstone Entertainment.

Joe Nimziki was attached to write and direct. Also, a February 2010 start date was planned for a Halloween 2010 release. Well, it looks like Moonstone is falling behind. Still, they’ve got a plot synopsis on their official site:

On the eve of his high school graduation, unremarkable Will Kidman finally bonds with the girl he has long yearned for, reclusive Eliana Wynter. But he also discovers a dark secret from his past… that he is about to become a werewolf. Now, in an effort to fight destiny and save their love as well as their lives, they must battle not only Will’s growing blood lust but an army of fearsome beasts bent on killing them…and then, us all.

So, will this ever get made? Let’s look at the Moonstone track record for potential projects. First, there’s Tobe Hooper’s proposed adaptation of From a Buick 8. That thing has stalled. And I know there hasn’t been any movement as far as Hooper is concerned (since he’s circling other projects now). Furthermore, there’s Stuart Gordon’s The Thing on the Doorstep, another H.P. Lovecraft project. The film has been waiting in the wings for two years now.

We’ll see if this new Howling will ever come to fruition.
