More Hints at Valentine in Resident Evil: Afterlife

Producer comments on sequels

This week, Shock Till You Drop spoke with producer Don Carmody about a number of projects he has in the pipeline including Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth film in Screen Gems’ franchise.

Carmody co-produced the first entry, as well as Apocalypse. He had to bow out of Extinction for another obligation, but he’s hopeful Afterlife will pave the way for a bright future with more Evil films.

“Part two made more than one, three made more than two and we’re hoping four will make more than three,” he said. “It keeps the franchise strong. What we want to avoid is what’s happening with the Saw franchise which is going the other way. We’re hoping Paul being back in the driver’s seat with 3-D and these big action set pieces will keep it going.”

And since I’ve been pressing to find out more about this talk of the return of Jill Valentine (which Milla Jovovich spilled the beans about here), I asked Carmody if he could comment. “No,” he chuckled, “it’s going to be surprising and it’s going to make people think what’s going to happen next.”

Sorry, Evil fiends. Looks like you’ll have to wait until next August to find out.
