Update: Universal Gives Green Light to Death Race 2

Frankenstein is coming back…

Update: Producer Jeremy Bolt informs us that the sequel will shoot next year and they’re considering actors for the role of Frankenstein now. The budget will be lower than the first film.

Some more on that sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race that we broke the news about in August right here

Universal has officially given Death Race 2 the green light based on Tony Giglio’s script. The follow-up, a prequel looking into the past of the race car driver known as Frankenstein, will be developed for the DVD market.

The story is based on an idea by Anderson and a director is being sought. Giglio will not direct as previously reported; he’s currently serving as a second unit director on Resident Evil: Afterlife which Anderson is at work on in Toronto.
