EXCL: 2001 Maniacs Sequel Gets New Title

Three new photos revealed

ShockTillYouDrop.com has exclusively received word from writer-director Tim Sullivan that his follow-up to 2001 Maniacs has dropped the Beverly Hillbillys subtitle and is now taking on the moniker: 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams.

“I know, I know. It has been very confusing with all the title changes,” Sullivan tells us. “Bottom line is, when Chris Kobin and Chris Tuffin and I wrote this sucker, the idea was to have the Maniacs travel to California. By the time we made it, we were shooting in Iowa so the title didn’t exactly fit any more. Nonetheless, during post-production, due to contractual issues, we were unable to offically change the name to now. But I promise this is it. The sequel to 2001 Manaics is called Field of Screams. And being that the Maniacs set up their traveling sideshow in the same Iowan cornfield where Kevin Costner built his baseball field, it really is appropriate. Bill Moseley suggested the tagline ‘If they kill you, they will come…’ Nice to know I’m not the only sick bastard along for this ride!”

In the sequel, Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Reject) steps in as the town’s villainous patriarch, Mayor George W. Buckman.

The story follows the residents of Pleasant Valley as they head West in search of new blood, only to come across an unsuspecting reality series crew who picked the wrong bunch of backwoods country folk to exploit for ratings.

“I truly believe this film has exceeded the first in every way possible,” Sullivan says. “It’s an over the top ride filled with sexiness, bloodiness and lots of politically incorrect humor. If the original didn’t secure me a warm spot in Hell, this one will for sure.”

Here are three new photos from 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams featuring Kevin “Ogre” Ogilvie as Harper Alexander, Mayor Buckman with Black Cherry (LaRayia Gaston), and Lester (Adam Robitel) and Rufus (Chris McDaniel) learn how to slice fresh meat the Kosher Way.
