Universal Co-Financing Stephen King’s Haven

The new TV series based on The Colorado Kid

A few weeks back, we reported that E1 Entertainment were developing a TV series with Stephen King called Haven adapted from his original novella The Colorado Kid. Now, Variety reports that Universal Networks Intl., the newly rebranded global channels unit of NBC Universal, has signed on to co-finance the drama.

Indie studio E1 Entertainment is currently developing 13 episodes of Haven to produce. While Universal has acquired exclusive pay TV rights across the globe except for the U.S., Canada and Scandinavia, where distribution is still being sought.

No word yet on when production will ramp up, but the pilot is being written by Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, whom also served as exec producers on USA’s The Dead Zone series. More when we hear it!
