Vampire Diaries Big Hit for CW

Where were all of the women? Watching TV…

Vampire Diaries, the CW’s answer to the “Twilight” phenomenon that’s a huge hit for the ladies, scored big ratings in its 8pm time slot last night.

Based on the young adult novels by L.J. Smith, and adapted for the screen by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and Julie Plec, the series debut broke records in regards to female viewers (of course). Compound that with the season debut of Supernatural season five and the CW saw a successful evening ranking number four for the night with 4.1 million viewers.

NBC’s NFL season opening took the number one slot. So that’s where all of the dudes tuned in.
