Final Destination Beats Myers in Horror Sequel Battle

Fourth installment opens with $28 million for top spot

This weekend’s battle of the horror franchises is over and done, and New Line’s The Final Destination has come out the victor after thoroughly trouncing Rob Zombie’s sequel Halloween II for the weekend. The former opened in the top spot with an estimated $28.3 million, while the second movie starring Tyler Mane as Michael Myers had to settle for third place with $17.4 million. One presumes the higher ticket price for 3D venues, which reportedly made up 70% of Final Destination‘s weekend gross, greatly helped in that victory.
