Hollywood takes a dip back into the haunted house well for The Haunting in Connecticut, Peter Cornwell’s feature debut inspired by a true case. This sub-genre is rare commodity these days; The Amityville Horror remake in ’05 was the last big release centering around a spooky abode. And it made big bucks.
Personally, I felt Connecticut was mediocre. Its heart was in the right place. Some of the drama revolving around Kyle Gallner’s sickness worked. There’s an over-reliance on jump scares and there’s nothing really fresh about the story. Still, it was watchable.
