Orphanage’s Bayona Directing Eclipse?

Lending his vision to Twilight franchise

In the wake of rumors swirling around Drew Barrymore’s possible involvement as director on Eclipse, the third chapter in the “Twilight” franchise, comes news that will make horror fans raise an eyebrow.

Juan Antonio Bayona is reportedly on a list of directors circling the film which is expected to hit theaters on June 30, 2010. Summit Entertainment would not confirm this for THR, however. Bayona directed 2007’s superb The Orphanage and is attached to adapt Hater for Universal Pictures.

If he does take on Eclipse he’ll pick up with a story set in Seattle which is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings as a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. Protagonist Bella (Kristen Stewart) once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.
