Bill Lustig is going to walk the beat with the Maniac Cop one more time.
During a weekend NYC screening of 1988’s Maniac Cop and its 1990 sequel, director Lustig revealed the ink is drying on a deal that has allowed him to regain control of the sequel rights. He’ll soon be sitting down with screenwriter Larry Cohen to hash out ideas for Maniac Cop 4.
In the first entry – starring Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins – Robert Z’Dar plays a killer in a policeman’s uniform. His reign of terror spread through three films total; the last – Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence – was released in ’93.
