Anderson, Sony in Talks About Resident Evil 4

Alice’s adventures to continue?

It feels like it was only yesterday that I was sitting through interview after interview with the cast and crew of Resident Evil: Extinction – every one of them telling me the third chapter was a firm capper to the franchise. That is, except for smart cookie Ali Larter, who decided not to play dumb and told us she heard whispers of a fourth film.

That was before I saw Extinction. If you’ve seen it, too, then you know it leaves the door wide open for another film…complete with multiple versions of star Milla Jovovich poised to unleash hell on the Umbrella Corporation.

With Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race arriving this August, I’m sure this won’t be the last we hear of Resident Evil 4 talks in the press. Kudos to MTV for kicking it off.

In a recent chat with the outlet’s Movies Blog, Anderson says early talks have begun for Resident Evil 4 and that “there’s a possibility it might happen.” With Extinction‘s $147 million worldwide gross, we would think Sony is taking these talks very seriously.

Anderson scripted all three Resident Evil films. If a fourth installment gets the green light, we’ll be curious to see if he’ll show any interest in returning to the director’s chair.
