H20 Greenlights The Gate: 20 Years Later

Sequel to the ’87 film confirmed

News first burst forth last December about this, now today THR firmed up the details on The Gate: 20 Years Later.

Word out of the Cannes Film Festival is that H20 Motion Picture has given director Randall William Cook the big thumbs up to move ahead on a sequel (not a remake, alas) to the ’87 film starring Stephen Dorff, although there’s no mention of whether it will be in 3-D (as previously reported). Cook, a longtime visual effects vet, will be making his directorial debut.

In the original, a bunch of punks accidentally open a portal to hell in their backyard and unleash a swarm of mini-demons.
