SFF ’08: Time Crimes on the Remake Table

United Artists, Zaillian to develop

In what marks the first deal to be made since signing an interim agreement with the WGA, United Artists has picked up the remake rights for the Spanish film Time Crimes (“Los Cronocrimenes”), which will be produced by Steve Zaillian.

Written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo, Time Crimes – a Sundance entry this year – is a jigsaw-style thriller about a man who accidentally travels back in time one hour and finds himself facing multiple dangers, including his own doppelganger.

The Spanish movie is being distributed in North America by Magnolia.

Sources said Zaillian will likely not write the adaptation but could pen the outline and oversee the writing.
