EXCL: Carpenter’s L.A. Gothic Now Casting

Master of horror makes feature film comeback

Genre legend John Carpenter is returning to horror feature filmmaking after a seven year absence. Casting is now underway for L.A. Gothic with an aim to begin shooting sometime in March. Josh Kesselman and Danny Sherman of Principal Entertainment are producing.

Writers Jim Agnew and Sean Keller signed a pre-strike deal with Principal to develop the script. Here’s the logline: Five interwoven stories of high-octane horror centering on a vengeful ex-priest’s efforts to protect his teenage daughter from the supernatural evils of L.A.’s dark side.

The scribes recently made news this week for hooking up with Italian maestro, Dario Argento, on Giallo. Carpenter’s last theatrical effort was 2001’s Ghosts of Mars. In the interim, he helmed two “Masters of Horror” episodes: “Cigarette Burns” and “Pro-Life.” He’s rumored to helm “Skin & Bones”, an episode of NBC’s “Fear Itself” anthology series.
