NBC Faces Fear Itself

New anthology series from Masters of Horror gang

This pretty much seals up any rumblings we’ve heard about the third season of “Masters of Horror.”

NBC is uniting with Lionsgate, “MoH” producers Industry Entertainment and executive producer Mick Garris (pictured) for thirteen episodes of “Fear Itself,” an anthology horror series to air in the summer of 2008.

Similar to the “MoH” model, each episode will run an hour and showcase some of the genre’s most notable scare mongers. However, one has to consider that now each writer and director will be faced with stricter content guidelines (no nudity, extreme gore, etc.).

Says Ben Silverman, co-chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. “Our goal is to produce more scripted programming in the summer for year-round programming – and everyone knows how well horror movies perform in summer – so we’re taking bold new steps with these acclaimed filmmakers.”

Adam Goldworm and Ben Browning are producing the series; Garris will be joined by Keith Addis and Andrew Deane in the executive producing duties.
