HBO Laps Up Ball’s Blood

Vampire drama picked up



The Hollywood Reporter says HBO will be the home of Alan (“Six Feet Under”) Ball’s “True Blood” series.

Anna Paquin stars as a mind-reading waitress who falls for a vampire (Stephen Moyer) in a small Louisiana town. Based on Charlaine Harris’ “Southern Vampire” novels, the understanding in this the series is that vampires exist and feed off of synthetic blood produced in Japan.

Brook Kerr, Ryan Kwanten (Dead Silence) and Sam Trammell (“Dexter”) co-star. Production on the first season begins in the fall with no locked premiere date.
