Cloverfield May Have its Director

“Secret project” not becoming so secret

The “Cloverfield” project (as we’ll refer to it until it gets an official title) is creating an insurmountable buzz around the various geek cliques, from the horror circles to those who bow to the mighty J.J. Abrams.

In our last update, the fellas at ComingSoon got a peek at the trailer, basking in its coolness. Tonight, word has reached AICN (I’m suspecting they’re in on the whole thing and their consistent flow of “information” is anything but a fluke) that director Matt Reeves (The Pallbearer) will be behind the camera working from a script by Drew Godard.

Reeves is one of the many gears driving Bad Robot, the production company that introduced us to “Felicity,” “Alias” and “Lost.” Abrams is overseeing its development while he preps the next “Stark Trek” film for Paramount.

Again, look for the “Cloverfield” trailer when Transformers opens this week!
