Hannibal Rises to Top of the DVD Chart

Top seller across the country

The Weinstein Company’s Hannibal Rising topped the national DVD sales chart for the week ending June 3. The film, which earned $27.7 million in theaters, was the only new theatrical release to crack the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert top 20.

The previous week’s top seller, Apocalypto, finished at No. 2, while New Line’s Pan’s Labyrinth slipped to third place.

Hannibal Rising made a weak rental debut on Home Media Magazine’s rental chart its first week in stores bowing at No. 13, with estimated rental earnings of just $2.2 million. Even so, it was the top rental debut of the week.
