New book spills some Guts



How timely. As distributors come under fire for their advertising ethics (see After Dark’s Captivity), New York Magazine reveals a new book exploring the art of selling horror is hitting shelves this July.

Guts: The Art of Marketing Horror is a compedium of photographer Tim Palen’s work. Palen is also a marketing exec at Lionsgate – those who are all too familiar with the “big sell” when it comes to the terror trade – and is responsible for many of the studio’s key ads for films like the “Hostel” series.
