New Mother of Tears Promo Art

“The final chapter in the terrifying trilogy”

A special treat for you Dario Argento lovers out there. We’ve been given yet another piece of promo art (a companion to this Cannes treat) for the Italian legend’s Mother of Tears. Nevermind the fact that Suspiria is inaccurately spelled, this art is being used for producer Myriad Pictures’ sell sheet.

The final chapter in Argento’s “Three Mothers” trilogy fittingly premieres at the RomeFilmFest on October 18th.

Swooping in on a wind of high expectations 27 years after Argento’s last installment, Inferno (30 years if you count the trilogy’s start in Suspiria), “Tears” stars Asia Argento as Sarah Mandy, an art student who releases Mater Lachrymarum, a powerful witch, on modern-day Rome. Framed for murder and on the run from both the law and the Mother’s demonic minions, Sarah seeks help from her boyfriend who suffers his own tragedy when he discovers his son has been kidnapped by the rampant evil spreading throughout the city. Sarah must now tap into powers she never even knew she had to defeat the Mother.

Argento lensed the film on familiar turf, Italy, as opposed to Vancouver where he’s been frivolously shedding blood for “Masters of Horror,” with newcomers to the “Three Mothers” universe, writers Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch on scripting duties. Udo Kier and Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni, of Suspira and Opera, respectively, reunite with Argento for co-starring roles. The drop-dead sexy Israeli model turned actress Moran Atias is the titular baddie while Valeria Cavalli plays Marta, the one who helps Sarah hones her strength.

We promise many more Mother of Tears goodies are on the way…
