Mummy’s New Squeeze

Hint: She’s got a history of Violence

That didn’t take long. After reports that Rachel Weisz wouldn’t be returning for Universal’s third Mummy film, director Rob Cohen has found her replacement: Maria Bello (A History of Violence).

Rather than play an entirely new love interest for returning Brendan Fraser’s Rick O’Connell, character continuity will be maintained and Bello will slip into the shoes of Evelyn O’Connell. She’ll join Luke Ford, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. Bello’s horror history is a brief one with a role in John Fawcett’s The Dark and…Coyote Ugly.

Cohen’s new adventure finds the O’Connell family in the Far East battling a new emotionally tortured mummy (Li) – see our previous report on the sequel here.
