View Full Version : People Choice Tournament

I've been watching the tournaments unfold as of late and decided that I would start one myself, but with a different intent in mind. Instead of having a certain class or time frame on the movies in this tournament I'm leaving the choice up to you. All the movies picked will be first of all chosen by you the voters.
This is a Peoples Choice: Greatest Movie of all Time.
The movie choices will stay up for the next 24 hours of this post. So post the movies you think should be apart of this soon to be epic tournament. I'm putting a limit of 15 movie choices out of the total of 50 i'm look to host in the tournament. So list 15 or just 1 that you think should be in. In the case of over 50 are chosen I will put the movies that have been listed the most in over the least. If there are too little I will fill the spots with some personal choices. To mix the new with the old this tournament will include movies from this year to the classics, choose wisely.
So I leave this thread to you voters for the next 24 hours. If you want to see your favorite movies in this tournament you have to list them! Lets see if we can find what movie is forever unforgettable.

So can we not include The Good, The Bad and the Ugly then?
I put it on anyways. Yes it is by Sergio Leone, but they did speak English so meh. It deserves to be there. :P
Chips45
08-03-2008, 11:36 PM
Haha Due to popular vote "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" is going to stay in the running. As long as it was in english and DESERVES to be apart of the greatest movies of all time I will mark it down and keep it in the running for the tournament. Use your best judgement.

I would suggest picking 64 movies as opposed to 50... It just lines up better. 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1
Anyway, my choices:
Superbad
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Knocked Up
Anchorman
Wedding Crashers
Requiem For A Dream
Iron Man
The Dark Knight
X-Men 2
American History X
Borat
Eastern Promises
The Godfather
Batman Begins

Ok Posting for the movies is now closed. The first battle will be up tonight, I plan to run 1 versus 1 battles, but for the first 2 rounds it will be 4 movies per battle. Reason for this is I will be extending the number of movies in this tournament due to the numerous amazing movies that have been listed. Either way, the great will come out on top no matter how many movies this tournament includes. Thank you all for your subsciptions and look forward to seeing how this tournament unfolds.

UPDATE:
Ok Overall 153 movies were listed....
Obviously A lot more then I expected but as I did a run over the list I decided this tournament of Greatest movie of all time to date should give a larger amount of movies a chance to show their stuff. So on that note I will be hosting the movies at 154 movies.
It will break down like this. 154 movies to start, round 2 will have 77, round 3 of course is 38 movies and 1 default win. round 4 will be 19 movies and 1 default win. Round 5 will be 10 movies, round 6 will be 5 movies, Finals will Consist of 3 movies, 2 of the winners from round 6 and 1 that has won through default (Default movies for the first 4 rounds will be chosen from the first phaze of this tournament.)
Might be a flawed system but in the end it will give us the movie you all vote for. For the first couple rounds the battles will be sorted by genre, from then on it will be random. The first battle will be up shortly to give me time to organize the rest of the tournament =) good luck to all movies.

Why not just trim 25 movies so the total is at 128? I'm sure a few people would be upset, but you could easily trim the 25 titles that have absolutely no chance of winning: The Ladykillers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 1408, Borat, etc. That way you could run the tournament the way most are run; 128 - 64 - 32 - 16 - 8 - 4 - 2 -1. Tah-dah!
But it's your shindig.
