The Dark Knight opens next week. It'll definitely open big. Heck, it'll probably be one of the years biggest money-makers. Yet...the counter-programming is fascinating. Mama Mia and Space Chimps are also opening. In other words...females and broadway fans have Mama Mia and small children have Space Chimps. Next week's box office is gonna be very interesting to say the least.

not interesting enough to start a thread about speculation of said uninteresting week... ;)

Well...seeing as Devil Wears Prada did some serious damage to Superman Returns and that dumb Ashton Kutcher-Cameron Diaz movie still managed to make like 30 million bucks during Iron Man's big opening I think it's interesting to see how Mama Mia and Space Chimps do against TDK.

I never said it wasn't. It will open big. No doubt about it. I'm just curious to see how the counter programming will do.

I've seen a lot of tv ads for Mama Mia.
The only ad I've seen for Space Chimps is the poster at my theater.

Yea. Same here. Space Chimps will probably flop. I mean...I'm sure kids will go see Batman anyway. Mama Mia may actually have a chance to be a decent hit. Heck, I wanna see it just cause it has that dumb Blonde chick from Mean Girls who could predict the weather with her boobs. ;)

I've got MY tickets for "Mamma Mia!" :D
No, not really, but there's little to no chance I'll get in to see "The Dark Knight" next weekend unless I take in a late show. I'm personally more hyped for "Hellboy" and "X-Files." I don't doubt "Dark Knight" will be good, but the last time I felt so positive about a movie, "Spider-man 3" happened, so I'm playing it safe this time.

I think more women will check out TDK because it's Heath's final performance. Also they'll go to see Bale.

Oh, and one other thing. Dumb parents will bring their kids to see TDK not checking to see that it's going to be long as **** and we all know the attention span of children. They also won't take into account it's not really a kids movie with all the violence and adult content. prepare yourselves now.

There's a movie called Space Chimps? Hmmm, I'm sure it'll be the usual family film. As in, it'll be awful. And I don't think even Abba fans will see Mama Mia, it looks really stupid.
The studios know they aren't going to make money with those movies, that's why they released them against Dark Knight, just get them out of the way. Seriously, wtf is Space Chimps?

Monkeys in space? How can it lose?!
Ham III, the grandson of the first chimp astronaut, is blasted off into space by an opportunity-seeking senator. Soon, the fun-loving chimp has to get serious about the mission at hand: Rid a far-away planet of their nefarious leader. Fortunately for Ham III, two of his simian peers are along for the ride.
Oh.
About half of that sounded promising. And the rest of it still sounds better than "Madagascar 2."

What half are you talking about? Because I don't see it.

You have to squint a bit and rearrange most of the words.

A fun-loving senator has to ride into his grandson at a far-away chimp planet; an opportunity-seeking simian hand is the leader. Nefarious.
Slightly less family friendly version.

A TDK Is not Superman Returns.
B People will see all 3 films likely but TDK has Heaths last and maybe bes performance.
C TDK is too overly expected to be worrieds about Mamma Mia and Space Chumps.

Yeah, that other hot blonde from Mean Girls is a cutie. Also played the dead friend (Lily Kane) of Veronica Mars in flashback scenes.

Good Lord. Why do some of you have a hard time understanding what you read? I never said TDK had anything to worry about! All I said was that there is interesting counter programming and interested to see how it turns out!
