We know about really good villains like Hearth's Joker and Chigurh( who both show what a villain should be), but who do you think is the worst villain in cinema history.

I have to either go with Sandman, Palpatine, or Vader. I can't decide.

I won't take participation in this after you put Vader.

... Darth Vader? As the worst movie villain of all-time?

Wow. Clearly, you need to watch more movies.

You say Darth Vader is one of the worst villains, yet you say that heath ledger as the joker, a performance none of us have actually SEEN yet, is one of the best?? Normally i hate internet abbreviations, but... WTF?

MasterChief117

Yeah this is deffinently someone to young to take judgment on stuff like this if you say Darth Vader is a terrible villian.

Ignoring the Vader comment, I nominate Stuart Wilson as Walker in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3." You can't follow up one movie that features a mutated Super Shredder by pitting the heroes against a British guy on a horse.

The poll is now up. And yeah Walker was pretty bad. The only reason I said Vader because well...he's not really too evil. He's kind of lame actually. After repeat viewings of the prequel trilogy and the orginal trilogy, I now see that he's kind of weak in the villain department. Tarkin was much better and more sinister.

MasterChief117

Vader was and is like the ultimate villian. He isn't weak, he killed little kids!!Little kids, murdered endless amounts of people. Destroyed planets, Vader is probably the best villian.

Vader as one of the worst? Seriously? Man, you need to watch better movies

Vader is not really much a villain. He's kind of inbetween. That makes him a pretty sucky villain. He's good for a SW villain but SW villains aren't really that good compared to villains in some of the other great films of all time. I mean, Chigurh, Angel Eyes; these villains just blow guys like Vader and Sandman away.

That's just my opinion on Vader. Others may not agree but that's how I feel about Vader.

Both played by John Travolta (Tr(emendously)a(re)volt(ing)a) :D

they're right - the real vader (not that idiot in the prequels) does not belong on that list.

In case you forgot - Vader OWNED Tarkin (and most of his successors who disappointed vader)

Imo, Lex Luthor>Darth Vader.

But the worst villain isn't Vader imo. It's Sandman.

Tarkin gave the heroes a sense of urgency to stop him. If they didn't he was going to keep blowing up planets. When has Vader ever created a sense of urgency where you say 'he has to be stopped'? Vader is a hero turned villain and has a big hint of heroism left in him. This prevents him from being a full scale villain. Vader is more anti hero than villain. As a villain he is absolutely terrible. As an antihero he's alright.

What...? This poll is just so... wtf.

Vader is THE villian of movies. He has his own theme music. And don't tell me you're basing things off those awful Star Wars prequels, there is nothing good that came out of those, they were a complete waste.

But if Vader is on there, why isn't Iron Monger from Iron Man? He's one of the least developed and run of the mill villains you can find. I only ask because you have Iron Man in your sig....and because Iron Monger sucks.

King_of_Skid_Row
07-07-2008, 07:20 PM
^They are still part of the saga. So I have to take them into account. No matter how mediocre they are.

King_of_Skid_Row
07-07-2008, 07:24 PM
Iron Monger a.k.a Obediah wasn't too bad. He seemed like a sign that villains were going to return to being villains. Though not as good as some of the greats ,he was still sign that villains in movies were going to return to their former glory. Not these sappy sympathetic losers like Anakin/Vader, Dracula( Van Helsing), and Sandman.

MasterChief117

Vader is so a villian. He massacred entire planets. There is no competition that he is a villian, Skid Row you wouldn't know because you werent probably born when Vader was at his prime. You just witnessed the prequels which were terrible.

King_of_Skid_Row
07-07-2008, 07:33 PM
I saw the originals and it seemed to me that it was Tarkin that was calling all the shots in planetary destruction. He gave the order to blow up Alderaan and was the one who came up with the idea. Plus he's also the one who wanted to kill Leia but Vader was the one who kept finding ways to keep her alive. Vader is more anti hero than villain.

Let's see: Chigurh, Angel Eyes, The Joker, Hannibal Lecter, Tavington, Indio, Norman Bates, Dr. Szell, Hans Gruber, T-1000, etc.

Those are just some of the greats. All better than Vader.

Bad villians usually come from bad movies. How about that crap scientist from Howard the Duck? How about John Travolta from Battlefield Earth? These are bad villians, Darth Vader isn't even close.

Yeah it really pisses me off. He is deffinently someone younger than me. I know I haven't seen a ton of movies(But I have seen my fair share) but I know that Vader is probably near the top most memorable villains. The Joker is a great villain to but does he stack up to Vader probably, probably not. But Vader doesn't deserve to be slashed as worst villain.

Actually I'm kind of old. I just think Vader fails as a villain but is a pretty kicka** anti hero. Because he's bad at being a villain, he's on the list. If there was a 'Best Anti Hero' list, he'd be on it. If Vader was a truly evil villain, he would've ordered for Endor to be blown up. He would've killed Luke instead of attempting to capture him. And he would've had Leia executed on Cloud City. That's all I have to say on the Vader matter.

American Beauty is better than Titantic but beware it is bizzare and I mean bizzare. Nothing like seeing Kevin Spacey doing the devil's deeds in the shower(if you know what I mean).

Haha yeah I'm looking forward to it. I'm watching all the movies in order except those two and I'm also skipping ones I've already seen unless I really can't remember them. So far The Broadway Melody of 1929 has been the worst, it was pretty tough to sit through.

Yeah, I have a lot of problems sitting through movies under 1960. You can think Batman for that.

I did too at your age. Even less appealing were old films that were foreign. But then I watched Kurosawa and Bergmen(sp?) films and was amazed. True, they aren't the most entertaining, but that's why I have a fun movie to watch afterwards (tonight I have TMNT haha). It's just something you develop.

I thought Mr. Salty water was elegant. Had class and style. He had Rhythm. Danced with it's victims in waves. Took control by force. Didn't wait around. Very aggressive and mean yet camouflaged his violent self with the look of peace well beneath the sunset earlier in the film. He timed his move perfectly. Very patient.

Even though they worked as a team, I think you were right the first time since Mr. Berg is the loser in the family. Like you said, he did nothing but sit on his fat ass and waited for his victim to stick itself instead of him sticking it. Too much of a coward to do his own dirty work the wuss.
