There are two movies right now that have very unique marketing methods. But which one do you think has the best marketing right now? The Dark Knight or JJ Abrams mystery monster movie?

Hard to say, but I thought that The Dark Knight teaser was admittedly enticing. Just having dialogue and music for a teaser trailer turned out to be pretty effective.

I think they're both great marketing schemes, but we haven't seen them both at their full potential yet.

Definitely "Cloverfield", absolutely by far. Everyone knows Dark Knight is a Batman film, but you wouldn't believe how many people ask me everyday about Cloverfield (I have a reputation for movie IQ) and what it's about. Not since Blair Witch have you seen people so intrigued by such a simple marketing plan, and whether it lives up the hype or not, just through its mysteriousness it has shrouded itself in it has a huge following of interest as people are now obsessed with figuring out what exactly the details of it are.

COLOSSAL (?). No question. It seems so rich and deep. Even if it goes nowhere it was a lot of fun thinking about the mystery.

whysoserious.com may be graphically slicker, but seems almost old fashioned by comparison. Plus we know where it's going: Batman 2.

Cloverfield just doesn't get me excited like this Batman campaign does.

Mainly because the Bat campaign is all in character for Joker, and Joker will probably be cooler than whatever's in JJ's movie anyway, in my opinion.

The thing with Cloverfield is there is very little pay off at the moment. The trailer totally caught my interest but now it's waned and the websites are keeping my interest the way Dark Knight's are.

Plus, I'm a really big Batman fan so my opinion is biased heh.

Dark Knight easily. Mainly due to the fact that it's campaign is almost entirely set around The Joker and his puzzles. It's definately keeping my interest, but I'm a huge Batman fan and The Joker is my all-time favorite villain so I'm biased. I Believe in Harvey Dent.

Obviously I'm biased, as my username will attest, but at this point TDK is leading the battle. I think the San Diego Comic Con stuff was genius and I think its gonna somehow be in the movie. All of the secrecy behind the Cloverfield/Bad Robot project actually creeps me out a bit. The poster of the SOL with it's head decapitated and the seeds that were possibly planted back in Alias w/ the whole SLUSHO thing are very well planned, if planned at all. The dollar bill thing and the phne number, along w/ the ever evolving sites give Bats the edge at this point right now IMHO.

Dark Knight has a lot more effort put into the campaign.

Cloverfield is basically just a trailer and a bunch of nerds freaking out.

I thought the ad campaign for "I Know Who Killed Me" was the best. They had Lindsay Lohan do the whole drug thing and get into rehab so that people would remember who she is and flock to her movie based on the hype surrounding Lindsay instead of the obviously enticing plot and trailers.

Fair enough. Granted I think she's has potential, if she can get her act together...
