Alien

I was in the store and I noticed Aliens was on sale for $7.50 and then it occured to me that I didn't already own it which surprised me so I immediately bought it. Anyway it had been awhile since I had seen this classic and upon watching it I rediscovered this amazing film.

So what are your general thoughts on this series?

I love Alien, Aliens may be even better IMO, and a lot of people don't like Alien 3 but I really liked it. Alien Resurrection was the only one I saw in theaters and was one of the first horror films I saw in theaters, so while it is not that great I do have some fond memories of it. And I am not going to say much about AVP because it was complete and utter garbage.

I miss the days of high horror such as these films, when you knew anything could happen, anyone could die, it was going to be violent and bloody, the creatures were scary, and the characters were total bad asses.

Eventhough the series is flawed I love the Alien films. What do you guys think?

I love the first three films. Alien is one of my favorite films ever and Aliens is brilliant too. I do enjoy Alien 3 quite a lot aswell. Alien Ressurection and AvP are not so great.

I have Aliens on my Netflix list as I have yet to see it. The first one was very good due to all of the suspense, but the 3rd one was pretty weak, mostly the blame is on FOX as they built the sets before the script was even finished. Haven't seen the fourth because I heard it sucks and AVP was a terrible movie.

I am looking forward to seeing Aliens, since so many people say that sci fi movies today just rip it off in every way.

Humpf! Aliens is extremely overrated. Its an ok movie. And lets not go into the last 2.

Just for that I bump my Aliens rating up to a 10/10 ;) Just kidding.

Although I am bumping it up to a 10/10 when I was watching it the other day I was so swept up in it unlike I have been for a film...honestly ever since I have been an adult. It just blew me away, it took its time, it was smart, gorgeous, well acted, great concept...it was just so damn good. When that door opens and there is Ripley in the crane thing and it zooms in on her, she walks out and says "Stay away from her you *****!" I just loved it, I literally had chills. Cameron knows bad ass characters. I cannot really think of any true cinematic bad asses to come out in years.

I just can't believe I had basically forgotten about this film and it is now easily in my top 10 favorites of all time.

The Alien franchise is one of all-time personal favorites. Unlike most, I enjoyed all 4 of them, especially the first two which are classics. I don't include AVP because that was so disappointing, it doesn't deserve to be included in the series.
