So, I just saw this movie and damn...what a masterpiece. My mind still havent digested the whole movie, but what a movie!
The setting was so well realized, the actors did a fantastic jobb portraying this sad sad society and the script was insanly good imo.
In the end I was so moved by it I had to sit quietly for a few seconds.
Some might think that the movie is just too sad and dark, but it fits imo. Its totalitarian.
Has anyone else seen this and what did you think of it? People dont make movies like this anymore
Edit: Also, is it just me or is Equilibrium basically a remake of this (the setting and stuff and of cource, a part from the action)?
George Orwell is the man.

I never read the book (which i probably should) but the movie is fantastic. I really recomend it as its a quite unusual movie. If you want to see something differnt it certainly does the trick. Its very dark though. Not much of a happy ending, but I guess the same goes for the book :)

This movie is not bad despite its graphic sex as it is obviously thrown in to get the young and devious into seeing the film. Definitely for Adults only.
I haven't seen the movie, but that's in the book (or did they get really carried away with it?). From what I can remember Winston and Julia falling in love with each other was pretty important, and they had to fight the Party somehow.

Oh you immature dumbass. It has nothing to do with graphic sex. The 2 main characters are naked when they are together as a complete opposite to the totalitarian regime. Its an analogy to adam and eve basically. If you dont get that then go you. Its the purety of humanity vs. the dark totalitarien society.
Its have NOTHING to do with getting the young to see the movie. It would be PG then....gez...

Well, from where I sat, as in many films, the graphic sex is overdone. I really understand that many "pimple face", "wart hands", young men and many older men as well, like this kind of stuff and that is why they put it in the films. But really, come on, a point can be made with nudity without showing so much of it.
Yes, those pimply, warty, young men sure do like nudity. None of those clean, athletic boys, they can't be lured into such depravity.

From what I remember, the nudity in 1984 was very unrefined, as to say it clearly wasn't romanticized to get American Pie fans to go see the movie. This is "1984", are you kidding? What dumbass teenager would ever want to see a movie about totalitarianism and politics?
