The Departed, not sure about anything else
Although i would like to see V for vendetta up there
The Departed indeed should be on that list.
You guys don't think Clint Eastwood will get a nod for either Flags of Our Fathers or Letters from Iwo Jima? Not that I would have seen them, but considering the last couple of years, Eastwood seems to have a lot of friends in the Academy...
I would follow the others in suggesting Little Miss Sunshine. Again, I have not seen it (hasn't opened here), but it has received a lot of buzz the whole autumn. (I run a website that monitors how much discussion films generate online: moviesay.com.)
Might the passing away of Robert Altman earn him or his film a nomination for A Prairie Home Companion? Stranger things have happened.
Volver? Perhaps not.
The Good German, depending on how it is received, might also be a contender.

Two movies I'm very sure will get Best Picture nominations are "The Departed" and "The Good Shepherd". I'd also like to see some nominations for "World Trade Center".

Eastwood does have a chance. I wouldn't call it a lock, but he deffinately has a strong dark horse place.
Altman might have some chance, but if he hadn't died that movie wouldn't have a chance in hell.
