Since it is halloween and all. I thaught i would list a poll on the scariest horror movies from oldies to new. Ofcourse some of the newer horror movies are crap but a few others. Like all polls i'll list 19 with other left for something i may have missed. Please do give me a few moments to post the poll please.

Im going with other because I would pick The Descent as the best horror movie. I know it hasnt stood the test have time yet, but it was the first movie that has ever really scared the **** out of me, so Im going to give it the nod

I can tell you're just a young whippersnapper if you call any of those movies oldies

Try the original Psycho, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Night of the Living dead, Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, and any number of Hammer Horror films that are classics.

(btw Exercist is spelled Exorcist)

Night of the Living Dead probably has the best ending of all time

Agreed. I used to watch parts of the movie every year and laugh at it - until one year I decided to see why everyone liked it so much - so I sat down and watched the whole thing - that's when it really gets ya!

Psycho also has the funniest scene I have ever seen in a movie. Damn that was great when he fell down the stairs

Original Texas chainsaw for me. Though I'm assuming I've accidentally voted for the remakes..

That was hard to pick from that list, but I went with Hellraiser. One of my favorite movies of all time that I didn't see on the list is Phantasm. Should be there!

I've seen only a select few of the genre, and they were still just thrillers and not horror movies. But the only horror movie I can recall having seen and loved is Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow". So, I obviously vote Other.

Too many classics to pick from... but I choose Nightmare on Elm Street. One of my personal favorites.

Of that list, I picked Exorcist. It's quality is way beyond all the others (atleast for the times).

Otherwise I'd probably pick Nightmare on Elm Street.

As for Psycho, I think I'd consider that more of a psychological thriller than a horror or monster movie.

Psychological thriller is sort of a sub genre of the Horror film Genre.

the way I say things the best Horror Movie of the last

5 years is
The Ring - sad, but its mostly due to lack of anything good

15 years
Scream - innovative and original

25 years
A Nightmare on Elm Street - lol, you can tell that Scream and Elm Street are done by same person, Innovative and Original

35 years
The Exorcist

45+
Psycho

For the last 5 years, I'd probably throw the best horror title to either Slither or Dawn of the Dead.

I would actualy go with Jonh Carptenter's The Thing - Create combination of horror and suspense.

For sheer suspense and tension, I'd vote for The Exorcist. Very creepy.

I say Evil Dead. Not because of the whole Sam Raimi/Spiderman thing. But because the movie was shot at a meager $30,000 budget, was filmed by a small group of horror fans, and after all these years is scarier and features better make up and special effects than 99% of the multi-million dollar crap that gets churned out today.

That film is just plain freaky. The gore, the psychosis, the originality. I consider the rumor of a possible remake an insult.

I voted for Bram Stoker's Dracula even thaugh its not really horroer like some may think. I also liked Alfred hitchcock's Vertigo, Stephan Kings- The Children Of Corn. Jeepers Creepers, Underwold Evolution, Night Mare On Elm Street, Gremlins, Critters, The Blob, Alien, Predator, Joy Ride, and Ghost and the Darkness.

The Exorcist. Anything dealing with demonic possession creeps me out. I also enjoyed Child's Play, Pet Semetary, and the original Amityville Horror.
