Night Watch

I was surfing the net and came across the trailer for Night Watch, and the trailer is pretty much kick arse. It's insane and all over the place, but in a good way. The film is from Russia and is based upon a trilogy of books from Russia, and the film itself is going to be a "epic horror trilogy."

I've seen the film. It's much more a fantasy/action sort of thing than a horror. There are a few 'jump in your seat' moments that come more from surprise, so nothing truly horrific.

The second movie already has a trailer out.

Ah, nice. Is the movie actually good / mediocre / bad / awesome?

The acting is fine and the special effects are superb, given the limited budget they had... but the story is pretty cramped. Witches/shapeshifters/magic and horrible curses all make very blunt appearances and characters aren't give much backstory, including the main character himself. But given that this is the first of a three part series, I can't exactly hold that against them, I'm sure they'll elaborate in time.

The ending was very... interesting. It just goes to show that this movie wasn't made in hollywood. :) I'm looking forward to the next movie.
