I have recently sat down and watched Pitch Black, Dark Fury and Chronicles all in one hit and was wondering if anyone knew if there was going to be any more Riddick films.

Originally there were plans for two more films after "Chronicles", I think.
Thankfully, I think Universal changed their mind.
Pitch Black was ok. Chronicles of Riddick was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Special effects were pretty sweet. But yeah the movie was....confusing. I think it flopped too

yeah I agree as a stand alone film Chronicles was fun but confused, but when I watched them all together it seemed to be more enjoyable.
Oh well

I just couldn't stand Chronicles - no I didn't see the others - but to me the whole thing was rather silly overblown macho bs _ I either laughed or was completely bored.
Necromongers HA! What a silly name - not scary at all either.
And what was with that armor? Looked like Gene Simmons Rejected stage costumes

They weren't invented by Vin Diesel or David Twohy.
Thankfully, I think Universal changed their mind.
How do you know? It's Vin's story and his production money, so if he wants to do them, he'll do them. And I say more power to him.

Chronicles was a let down but I still would love to see the sequels.

If you really free your mind now you will see it really doesnt look any worse then say.....stormtroopers. Or darth vader maybe. I meen really....
Anyway. I hope they make the next two. Maybe they will. Chronicles did very well on dvd.

Why? thankfully? Have you no self-controll what so ever? Cant you just......skip a movie if you dont want to see it? I dont see the issue here....Feel kinda sorry for you if you cant. Must be a pain.

I really liked the two films and I would love if they made more but I think they should take the series in a darker direction like the first one (Vin said the would but "big budget studio dark" always ends up being pg 13)

Are you just trying to start sh** or what? "Thankfully" because it's down-right painful to see millions and millions of dollars poured into what's ultimately a big steaming pile of vomit like Chronicles. And comparing that ass-chunk to Darth Vader? Please. One is a bona fide silver screen icon, the other is a bald 'roid-head pissing away a ton of money on his planet-sized ego. Let's see, combined domestic gross of Riddick movies: 97,001,671. Combined domestic gross of just the Star Wars prequels (with Vader as the main character): 1,012,180,923. So far. Apparently an ass-ton of people disagree with you about it looking any worse. I meen really....
Because you disagree with someone is no reason to go saying condescending sh** like "feel sorry for you".

Heh - I don't think I've ever said Storm troopers or Vader were cool looking :D ... but they don't get their uniforms designed by KISS either :omg: :P

Pitch Black was really sweet, prolly one of the good thriller-alien movies out there. And that was the movie that hit big time for Vin Diesel, as I also wondered who the **** this guy was, and later found that he was in SPR.
On a note, you'll enjoy Chronicles of Riddick more if you've seen Pitch Black.
Now Chronicles of Riddick, was kinda like a guilty pleasure. I liked it abit, because it had so much to it. The theory behind a convict saving the world...I really don't care, it's a popcorn flick, and I think it was good. Of course theres alot goin amiss there but I hope they make more. I did miss the hammer head aliens though (Pitch Black), dunno where all the aliens went in COR.
And the term Necromongers isn't technically supposed to be scary, as I think it's derived from the term Necromancer.

Chronicles of Riddick=crap waste of time and roughly a $30,000,000 flop from the box-office. And they want to make sequels? HA.

sequels will be made, it made decent money in the dvd release and it almost made enough domestically to cover how much it costed to make.... in other words it made enough of a profit to justify to universal that it can be milked a bit more, although i think instead of 2, it will just be 1 sequel

It's a planned trilogy.

I kind of liked Pitch Black. I'll watch it if its on TV. Chronicles was aweful, I couldn't make it through the entire movie.
What is 'Dark Fury'? I've never heard of it.

According to TMDB Dark Fury is a short animated story (about half an hour) that is suppose to be a direct link between PB an CoR.

AS for any Sequels... It really dosen't matter to me if they make any or not. PB was good and I haven't seen CoR.

Hehe, thanks for the laugh mate :D haha
I think Twohy and Vin like the character too much to not try and make another one... but I don't think the scale will be quite as good... it will more likely have to be on the order of Pitch Black (smaller budget used as cleverly as possible). Twohy is capable of making decent movies with limited resources... but I think Vin will have to maintain a certain box office bankability... it may have waned some with his last couple of efforts.

The studio should spend there money on a good movie.....I dont understand why they sit there and think that putting millions into movies like Chronicles is a good idea. There is so many good scripts out there, yet they always put their money into crap like this.

Because they figure a crap movie (with action) will sell better then a low budget film (with what matters like plot and characters). I wish limited releases would get more attention, especially since they turn out to be better then most wide releases anyways.
Pitch Black was entertaining...Chronicles of Riddick sucked badly. It could have been good if they made it more like Pitch Black, none of that Necromonger crap. They tried to hard to make an original sci-fi movie.

Yeah, let's make a sequel with the exact same story as the first, that makes much more sense than something original. Be glad that they slapped the exec around who wanted the same story.

I quite liked Pitch Black, but like most of you found the Chronicals boring. The only cool part in that movie was when they were running to the ship and escaping the sun. Beyond that, boring. If they made a sequal much more like Pitch Black, I wouldn't mind at all and would be up for it. But if it was like Chronicals (which I hate all names that start with Chronicals), I think I'll pass.

They have to go back to basics which i think they will. If Vin pushes for this movie, he'll get it but with a smaller budget. Leading to another pitch black rather than chronicles. The only great thing(i rather liked the movie. a guilty pleasure) is that it had the epic sci-fi atmosphere that hasn't been seen since star wars.

Well they are going to the Underverse for the next one. I'm guessing it's pretty dark down there.
