He's annoying and not funny. He has a low I.Q and he gives the impression of a child.

Because he is an absolute irritant who serves no purpose whatever - he's just a bumbling idiot character Lucas threw in for laughs and it backfired when most people hated the character.

Seriously, though, saying you love Jar Jar really lowers your credibility as a SW fan. It also implies that you are much, much younger than your profile says. Sorry, based on the way you act around here combined with this, I just don't believe you're 25.
Jar Jar is annoying, racist, and totally unnecessary. Star Wars didn't need slapstick comedy.

a protocol droid that complains alot and a little droid that gets into trouble all the time= good humour.

Here's what's wrong with Jar Jar (other than being more annoying than fingernails on a chalk board).
He succeeds with dumb luck. He has no skill or talent, yet he wins battles.
He gets a gun stuck on his foot and accidentally destroys bad guys.
Then he fumbles around with a bomb and inadvertantly destroys a tank.
Then Anakin disables the army and Jar Jar takes credit and gets a medal.
Complete 100% blind luck.
At least the Ewoks used technique and skill.
The message is that you can win a war no matter how retarded you are as long as you get lucky.
Such a message is insulting. Luck does not occur on the battlefield.

He's got an annoying voice and never shuts up. That's the best way to ruin any sense of suspense or drama - have endless talking over the top of it. I was so relieved when Liam Neeson put the sleepy hold on him in the water scenes in TPM.

I'll look at for myself later, but am seriously inclined to to believe that Jar Jar was in fact speaking about the temperature. It would be much warmer on the metropolis and industry of Couruscant then it would be under the waters of Naboo.
Furthermore, aside from the obvious inappropriate nature that I don't think even Lucas would allow, the term "hot" to refer to someone's appearance is a modern colloquialsim. Lucas doesn't use modern slang in the Star Wars universe, as it would be extremely out of place.

I'm not a Jar-Jar fan by any means, but I do think he gets blamed from TPM's problems more than he should. Yeah, he was annoying and not particularly funny, but he bothered me less than Neimodians and Padme. At least Jar Jar's main purpose was to provide a bit of comic relief. The Neimodians were supposed to be some of the main villains, and they were simply horrible (not in a good "horrible villain" way, mind you. Just horrible.) And Padme... well, she needed to be a key figure in not just the TPM, but the whole prequel trilogy, and yet she exuded less emotion and likeability in that movie than R2D2! Seriously, I cared much more about the droid than I did about her, and that's just wrong. Portman must have been either heavily drugged or hypnotized when delivering most of her lines. (and yes, I think she was worse than Jake Lloyd a lot of the time. Of course, those ridiculous costumes and all that facepaint didn't help her at all.)
From the official script:
ANAKIN and JAR JAR join the QUEEN, PALPATINE, PADME, RABE
and EIRTAE in the taxi. PALPATINE gives the Gungan and the
boy in the back of the taxi a skeptical look. JAR JAR leans
over to ANAKIN.
JAR JAR
Da Queens- a bein grossly nice, mesa
tinks.
(he looks around)
Pitty hot!
I'm going to give Lucas the benefit of the doubt and assume that he's referring to actions being "hot" (like Paris Hilton does,) because earlier in the movie he tells Qui Gonn "Any hep hair (help here) would be hot."
The Neimodians were supposed to be some of the main villains, and they were simply horrible (not in a good "horrible villain" way, mind you. Just horrible.)
I agree. I mean, they were like the main villains of Episode 1, and yet they were killed off in Ep III as a minor afterthought.
Jake Lloyd was the person who bugged me the best besides Jar Jar. I mean, he's supposed to grow into Darth freaking Vader, and he's going around saying 'YIPPEE!!!"

See, that didn't really bother me. The point was to show that he was a good-natured kid, ultimately making the whole transformation more tragic. If he went around saying things, "WHAT? BROCCOLI for dinner?? You have failed me for the last time, mother!" it would have been... umm... okay, yeah, that might have been funny.
But seriously, the idea of him being a good kid was fine with me, though somebody should have told Lucas that NO kid (good or bad) says, "Yippee!" Something like "Alright!!" would have been a bit better, I guess.

I hated Jar Jar too, but also thought TPM was the weakest link in the Star Wars chain.
My ten year old son, loved TPM and thinks Jar Jar is hilarious.

I thought it would be too, actually.
Let me rephrase. My problem isn't that Anakin was an innocent little kid, my problem is the fact that he was so cheesy and cringible. I understand that he was an innocent kid, and it wouldn't make any sense if he was menacing when he was 9. In a story sense crap like "Yippee!" lost some credibility for the story and the character. They could have shown Anakin being an innocent child without being so corny and lame, and it would have benefited the character. As it stood everyone just thought of him as annoying and poorly acted.
Not to mention (and I realize I'm preaching to the choir here): A) as someone mentioned earlier, no reasonable kid would ever say "Yippee!", and if they did, they probably wouldn't be doing it when battling an evil genocidal starfleet, and B) Jake Lloyd cannot act.
