Day of the Dead Remake in the Works
Source: Variety May 25, 2005
Millennium Films, Taurus Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films are developing a remake of George A. Romero's 1985 Day of the Dead, which will be financed and distributed through Millennium, says Variety.
The original film was set in a world overrun by pesky zombies bent on extracting a group of scientists and military personnel who have holed up in an underground bunker.
"Day" was a sequel to Romero's 1968 Night of the Living Dead and 1978 Dawn of the Dead.
Universal Pictures released a remake of "Dawn" last year, which grossed $102 million worldwide. Romero's "Land of the Dead" is set for a June 24 release.

Hmmm, I honestly don't know what to think of this.
They remade Dawn of the Dead, and kinda screwed the original. I've never been a fan of Day of the Dead, but I think I would actually like to see what they could come up with for this one. Might be able to improve on it...

Since the first two have been remade already, why stop there, eh?;)
Yet Im honestly torn on this...

good, i like remakes, just as long as the zombies are slow.
slow and steady wins the delicous juicy flesh of a screaming warm victim about to become subject to the living dead. slow and steady.

Yeah, when hell freezes over.
Sorry.
Its not a unrealistic idea though...it would make sense even. But its just that we'll problably have to wait for Diamond Edge or whatever its called before he does it. And then the studio would problably cut all the really gory parts, and then we would be left with nothing. Unless he somehow finances it himself.
But I am in favour of this though...

[QUOTE=JohnnyBgood]Yeah, when hell freezes over.
well actaully if you've read the Divine Comedy: The Inferno, it states that the ninth and final cirle of Hell is made of ice, Satan is half frozen there chewing on three worst sinners in History.
The third circle is icy too, it is frozen mud and goo where the gluttonous are rained down upon hail, until the "unfriendly judge" comes down and takes their cases and decides whether or not to send them to nicer or not so nicer punishment.
........................................Just thought I'd share that with you.

No to both -- This is not a sequel to Dawn of the Dead 2004, the sequel to which will be called Dawn of the Dead 2 -- and it wasn't a good remake, either. I suppose it was an alright zombie movie, but it totally screwed over all of the important ideas in Romero's version.

Don't touch Elm Street.
Unless you're going to make a sequel. In that case, go ahead, I'm ready for another one.

When I read this I couldn't help but picture Homer, and a certain onslaught of donuts!
Oh yes, on another note I stand corrected: its called Diamond Dead, so what was I thinking?! I don't know.
Land Of the Dead has a lot of elements of the original Day script.

DOTD04 wasnt meant to be a complete remake of the original, in interviews they even say that, so for those that hate it due to it ruining Romero's vision get over it. And for those that hate it cause the zombies are slow, go watch Shaun of the dead (great movie btw) and see why some of us prefer running zombies. IMO i hope they do remake Day and continue with the running zombie theme.

I agree with you about DOTD04. I really enjoyed it (and yes, I saw the ORIGINAL DOTD before), but I did NOT care too much for the running zombies.
I have some hopes for the remake of Day, as long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct it.
