Off topic, Drizzit check your PMs, I left some blotches when I made your avatar and I fixed it. I PMed you yesterday but I don't think you've gotten it yet.
Back on topic, my favorite line would have to be:
"I hate you"
"You were my brother...I loved you," followed by "I HATE YOU." Definately the most powerful scene in the prequels, and the best acting by Ewan and Hayden during the three movies.

the "I HATE YOU!!" line actually came first. Thats why Obi-Wan said "You were my brother Anakin. I loved you." And yes thats my favorite line/s in the film. Everytime i see that i get teary-eyed. It really is a sad moment as you see Anakin's eyes turning red as he is totally consumed by the darkside. I consider that to be the moment he turns to the darkside and "the Anakin" dies. Powerful stuff.

Yeah, that was stunningly bad. Sometimes I can't figure out how Lucas can leave things like that in the film. Can't he tell when something just does not work? (like Vader's scream, for example.)
I kind of wonder if we'll get a different verision of "Nooooo!!" on the DVD, just as we got a different version of Padme telling the clone trooper she was okay in AOTC after falling out of the ship. (In the theatrical release, when the clone trooper ran over and asked, "Are you okay," she said, "Yes!" way too brightly, just after groaning on the ground. On the DVD, she says, "Uh-huh," which works marginally better.)

A little yeah. I was actually expecting them to have some major part in the plot, but they didn't. They easily could've substituted any planet for Kashyyyk, but instead it seemed they used it simply so they could do a little name dropping and mention Chewbacca.

I would have been if the wookiees served any actual purpose. As it was, it felt like Lucas sat around thinking, "How can I make this movie more popular with OT fans? Hmmm... AH-HAH! I could throw Chewbacca in there! They'll LOVE it!" But then he couldn't think of a way to really tie Chewie into the plot, so he made up a completely unnecessary side-story of Yoda going to Kasshyyyk, playing in a treehouse, and then coming home.

The path of the riteous Jedi is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil Sith. But then she just gave birth to 2 children. Its her duty to watch over them and make sure they grow up alright...but instead she just gave up on them. Padme wouldn't do that. It was just a cop out anyway, I guess they couldn't think of a decent way for her to die.

How are you able to know how *you* would feel if you were in her place? That is the same thing that happens with people who commit suicide; they do not think clearly. Do you think those people don't care about their families, and everyone else they're leaving behind? You are simply in such a state when you're performing the act, that you cannot think clearly. In Padme's case, her grief for Anakin's loss, for Anakin did die in a way, was such that there was no room in her heart for anything else, even her children.

Okay, two things, my theories to explain this stuff. I'm usually the first to say "plot hole" but these honestly didn't bother me, I'll explain why.
1. I believe Padme died because birthing Luke and Leia, two children unusually strong in the force. In a sense, she used all her lifeforce bringing them to life, she had to sacrifice herslef that they may live. Hence, Anakin's visions, as well. (I get this idea in part from Tolkien's "Silmarillion". For those of you who are familiar, Feanor's mother goes through pretty much the same thing because Feanor was such a powerful elf.)
2. About Leia remembering her "real mother". She says she remembers "images" and "just feelings, really". I think these untangible memories came to Leia by way of the force, possibly when Padme held Leia at her last moment of life. Padme's love for Leia transcended to her daughter.
Anyway, that's just my $0.02. I honestly got these impressions the first time I saw ROTS, though I get the feeling some of you might see it as a bit far fetched.
JBond

You realize though that when you make stuff up that although can't be debunked, it can be done in so many ways, there are ALWAYS ways to show how something may not be a plot hole. Especially in a series as rich as Star Wars. The same thing happens when I hear big fans of the Terminator series try to defend plot holes by making stuff up that can't be proven or debunked cause they don't exist, the writers never thought of it when it happened. Not to mention, what you said was quite a stretch. If people want to tell themselves these kind of things so the stories hold up in their mind, that's fine, but to claim that it makes a plot hole not a plot hole...I just don't think you can do that.
Leia also says she was beautiful. More of a visual thing.

If people want to tell themselves these kind of things so the stories hold up in their mind, that's fine, but to claim that it makes a plot hole not a plot hole...I just don't think you can do that.
Leia also says she was beautiful. More of a visual thing.
Yeah, I guess I do agree, in the end it's swiss cheese. I was just trying to make sense of it within the context of the story. But it's a reflection of the vast incompetence of George Lucas' writing, as well as his lack of respect for SW fans. Did he think we'd all just "forget" all of these things? His philosiphy when writing the PT was, if he came up with something that didn't jive with the OT, instead of making it right, just make it that way and make a new version of the OT later. "We can just cut out Leia's dialogue" or change it to "I don't remember my mother, she died when I was born because she lost the will to live". Not cool.

You realize though that when you make stuff up that although can't be debunked, it can be done in so many ways, there are ALWAYS ways to show how something may not be a plot hole. Especially in a series as rich as Star Wars.
I like these theories, actually. I hadn't thought of the first one, but the second one had been in my mind since I've watched it. If she remembers her mother, then it would seem she had a stronger bond with her than Luke, and she could feel her through the Force, in a way.

It looks that way seeing as Luke had no memory of his mother period. I wonder if after the events in Jedi did Luke and Leia ever get to visit Naboo to visit their immediate family. At least there's some family there that they can turn to.

Sidius had some really good lines before his face was scared. The lines where he twisted his words to seduce Anakin where the emperors best lines in the new trilogy of movies. I also thought Yodas lines where better or maybe the best in all the movies. My favorite line is a tie between. You were the chosen one. And, The Darkside Of The Force possess many abilities that some feel to be unatural. "Is it possible to learn such power." "Not from a jedi." That whole exchange was great.

I think Natalie is an amazing actress, one of the best in her generation BUT she was just cringeworthy in all of her Star Wars scenes. Much of this however was down to Lucas's terrible faux-shakespearean dialouge.

Yeah, when it comes to starwars, you can't blame the actors. We know Natalie is good (Garden State) and Hayden (shattered Glass) and Ewan (Trainspotting) but when you are acting infront of a blue screen, and interacting with things that aren't there it woudl be hard...especially when you don't have a really good director, which would be one of the only things that could save acting when its infront of a blue screen. I think they did just fine considering their restrictions (blue screen, bad directing, wooden script)

Hey guys it is understandable that Padme dies of a broken heart cause for one Anakin is taken over by the darkside and yes having the babys is exciting and all but if you really think about it she would not be able to watch over them and take care of them cause they would have to be put into hiding for there protection from the emperor so Padme would be losing them as well as losing anakin so if she were me I wouldn't want to go on living either ok now do you understand heeheee. "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy... and then we shall have... peace". - Sidious
"...Darth Plagues was a Sith Lord so wise and powerful that he could influence the midichlorians to create... life." - Palpatine/Sidious
"...I know you would... I can feel your anger... It gives you focus. Makes you stronger". - Palpatine/Sidious
"What? How can you do this.... This is outrangeous! It's unfair!" - Anakin
"If so powerful you are, why run". - Yoda
"You will not stop me. Darth Vader will be stronger than both of us." - Emperor Palpatine
"I have been waiting a long time for this moment... my-little-green-friend". - Emperor Palpatine
"The force is strong with you; a powerful Sith you will become. Hence forth, you shall be known as Darth... Vader". - Sidious
"This is where the fun begins". - Anakin
"Obi-Wan... There's still good in him; I know this... There's still--" - Padme
"Put me on the council and not make me a master?! That's never been done in the history of the jedi; it's insulting!" - Anakin
"Don't lecture me Obi-Wan. I see through the lies of the jedi."
"... You must break through the fog of lies the jedi has surrounded you with, Anakin". - Palpatine
"...more and more I feel I'm being excluded from the council... I know there are things about the force they're not telling me". - Anakin

That was a good one. I interpreted it even one step further...seeing the extermination of the jedi helps Bail Organa instantly see that the republic he once knew no longer exists. "And so it is" was almost as if he was saying goodbye to the republic and his post as a senator and "hello" to see his new role as a leader in the soon-to-be organized rebellion.

I would have been happier with the "There is still good in him line" if we knew Obi-wan believed her. Later Luke will say there is good in him and Obi-Wan will disagree. "He's more machine now than man".

Clever line might be (and I know this one has been mentioned, but I liked it):
"So this is how liberty dies - with thunderous applause"
And I thought it was clever how Sidious made out that Mace had attempted to assasinate him and that was the explanation for his face.

The Emporer to Mace...."Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"
I love that line.

"The opression of the Sith will never return!" - Mace Windu
"Darth Vader will become more powerful then either of us!" - Darth Sidious
"If into the security recordings you go...only pain will you find" - Yoda
"The force is strong with you...a powerful Sith you will become" - Darth Sidious
"I have brought peace, justice and security to my new Empire!" - Darth Vader
"This is the end for you my master" - Darth Vader

If you didnt like the movie, then theres no reason for you to be in this forum.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I'm sorry, but this forum is not just for those who love Star Wars. If he doesn't like the movie, then this is the PERFECT spot for him, cause then there can be discussion on it instead of just worshiping the movie.
(But if someone goes through threads to be a smart ass, then the comments can be taken somewhere else)

Yes, that was a powerful one. I felt sad when he said that because it wasn't true. Obi wan did not fail him. Anakin failed himself.

That comment was not exactly criticism on why he didn't enjoy it.

Am I not entitled to my opinion?? Why do you always have to be such a know-it-all, always right, your opinion is god, person to everyone? So I just thought the movie was so-so? Why does that matter to you?

Dude, why is my statement wrong??? And - I might point out that I have noticed just about everyone here using lame humor to express a point. Jeesh - talk about everyone getting their panties in a bunch.
The movie was OK - didn't think it would be all that, and I think a lot of fanboys are on the defensive, so fine, if you don't like any criticisms for what you now perceive to be the greatest movie of all time, I'll skip it.

Just don't invade other threads just to post lame jokes of the type "the best line of the film was 'the end'. You wanna pass criticism, do it properly, on the review thread.
